Health Data: GDPR for Life Sciences Industries or Services

On 28 June 2018, Maître Astrid Barbey spoke at the "Clean Data" conference organized by Visions in partnership with Sciences Po.

Clean Data is an international, virtual conference dedicated to the protection of personal data. This year, the theme discussed was the implementation of the GDPR (European General Data Protection Regulation).

The objective of the intervention of Maître Astrid Barbey was to present to health industry manufacturers the specific features involved in the processing of health data in the new regulations.

Since the Health Data conference, the French authorities have transposed the GDPR into French law and have used the room for maneuver provided by the European regulations to waive the system set by the GDPR, particularly in the health field.  The transposition of the GDPR has resulted in amendments to the Data Protection Act and its implementing decree.

The current regulations have become relatively illegible and the public authorities have announced a new codification system in the form of a decree in order to make the texts consistent and more easily applicable.
